Terminator Genisys(TG): There are several good things we can say about TG – but not enough to encourage you to put your butts on seats and your hands and arms on armrests and cup holders that haven’t been sterilized since your local theater was built. OK, maybe I’m being a little hard on theater chain operators. Let’s start over.
There are several good things we can say about TG but if you have a big screen TV wait for Home Viewing. However, if you are patient and are also a Terminator and Arnold fan go see it now.
This is not to say we did not enjoy the film overall – thus we recommend you see it when it comes out on rental. Typically a movie starts out strong and sags somewhere in the middle and finishes strong. TG was so slow and generally confusing getting started that I dosed off for a few seconds and then listened to it with my eyes closed for a bit. Once all the characters were introduced and developed – the plot turned interesting and even had a couple of surprises along the way.
Marty and I both thought Arnold was great. If you like to watch Arnold as the Terminator trying to walk the line between being a machine yet displaying his quirky humor and emotions for the good guys and gal you will enjoy him in TG. Emilia Clarke – better known to us as Daeneryl Targaryen, The Dragon Queen in Game of Thrones, did a nice job as a new and softer edged Sarah Connor. Jason Clarke – whom we liked in several TV series was good in his role as John Connor and I can’t say any more because I don’t want to spoil it for you.
It was 93 and humid here today and we had nothing on our calendar so seeing TG was a good way to spend the afternoon. On the way out I washed my hands twice and put my clothes in the washer when we got home. We truly do wish we could recommend Terminator Genisys to you in the theater but we just can’t bring ourselves to do it.
