The Son of God – Still the most stirring Story Ever Told

Marty and I were moved to tears and thanksgiving during the crucial scenes in “The Son of God” and were so glad we saw this interpretation of Christ’s life by Roma Downey and her husband Mark Burnett. When the filmed ended most people clapped – yet Marty and I sat still and watched the scene review and listened to the stirring singing of “Mary Did you Know.” I have put the youtube link to this song by Cee Lo Green below. I guarantee you it is worth opening. Just hit “skip this ad” and the video opens. As the title implies it’s about Mary, the Mother of God and what she knew – or didn’t – which comes through in the movie.

St. Paul writes in his Second Letter to young Timothy “all scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and for training in righteousness.” Was every verse from the Four Gospels covered in The Son of God? No, its a movie and meant to be a form of entertainment that also inspires us to personal righteousness. Hopefully it will inspire some to read the original script written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John with some help from God.

We liked how The Son of God opened with St. John – banished to the Isle of Patmos – speaking of Jesus eternal nature said “in the beginning the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” The movie ended with Jesus appearing to John in The Revelation telling him: I will make everything new – there will be no more death and every tear will be wiped away – I am the Alpha and the Omega – the beginning and the end – and I am coming soon.

Roma and Mark’s vision was to portray Jesus in a “normal” setting for the time – the way he was born – how he interacted with people as a Man – the controversy His Ministry had on the established religious and political system – the humanity and commonality of his Disciples – the bond and love he had for his earthly Mother Mary – the reality of His suffering and death on the cross and the hope that He is coming soon.

I could go on and on but I “believe” and I believe the best thing for you to do is see The Son of God for yourself in your local theatre. While you are waiting click on the link to see the video by Cee Lo Green – “Mary Did you Know.”

His peace He offers you!
