We had a split vote in the Stephens Family on The Lone Ranger – featuring Johnny Depp and more Johnny Depp. Marty said she really liked the film and she loved Johnny Depp’s character in it. Uncle Larry was disappointed at the liberties the writers of this script took with the Legend of my Lone Ranger from the TV shows of my youth.
If you are a big Johnny Depp fan and love the work and comedic character he played in Pirates of the Caribbean then you will love this movie.
If, on the other hand, life me you remember the role of Tonto as The Lone Ranger’s Faithful Companion and the Lone Ranger as a man’s man and authoritative “good guy” you may want to wait for in home release – or skip it all together.
I think at the end of the day if you are looking for entertainment, virtually impossible stunts and a good time you will be glad you saw this on the big screen. On the other hand if you have memories or attachments to the TV series Lone Ranger of my youth – which was a long time ago – you will want to pass.

We saw the movie last evening and we laughed almost as hard as we did when we saw “The Heat”. Certainly, not what we were expecting, but we thoroughly entertained.
Remember, nostalgia isn’t what it used to be. Hope you’re having a great 4th.
